The RWE Group - A brief portrait

Group and core business

Group Center, the headquarters of RWE AG, steers and coordinates the Group's operations. RWE Power is our mining and power plant company and generates electricity based on a broad mix of lignite, coal, nuclear power and natural gas. RWE Dea extracts gas and oil within and outside Europe and in doing so secures a growing share of our gas sales. RWE Innogy is responsible for expanding production of renewable energies. Over the coming years, the RWE Group plans to invest one billion euros in renewable energies. As a sales and grid company, RWE Energy bundles integrated sales of power, gas and water in 12 regional companies in large parts of Germany and Continental Europe. RWE Trading counts as one of Europe's leading energy trading companies and trades on international exchanges in power, gas, coal, oil and environmental certificates. It also acts as the risk manager for the entire Group. RWE Gas Midstream optimises the important gas activities, such as procurement, transport and storage contracts, as well as the LNG* business. This is where full integration of the Group's midstream operations takes place. As an internal service provider, RWE Systems supports the Group companies and offers corporate services in various divisions, including corporate purchasing/accounts payable, information technology, management consulting and personnel services. Last but not least, RWE npower, the leading energy supplier in the UK.


Good balance sheets are important. But people count most.

Of course we're happy when our business develops positively. If our ideas are accepted and we succeed in penetrating exciting, multi-faceted new markets. But we regard ourselves as more than just a powerful energy supplier that can boast notable successes. We see ourselves as a company that carries major responsibility. For the people we work for. And for the people with whom we work. We believe it is our duty to make a contribution wherever commitment is needed. That also relates to social, cultural and many other areas in the community, whereby we pay particular attention to young people. After all, they are ultimately the key to our future. So we will do everything we can to make sure they feel good at RWE.
