Your tasks

Based either in Bonn, Germany or abroad, you will establish and oversee standards and guidelines, monitoring DHL Express’s compliance with export regulations. Your work will require legal, compliance and regulatory knowledge, combined with the ability to drive operations. Your position will be critical to safeguarding DHL and improving our relationship with important industry entities. It will involve you communicating with stakeholders in DHL Express as well in the wider corporate organization. Your responsibilities will include defining and deploying denied party screening in business partners’ IT systems and overseeing Express risk profiles, risk assessments and controls for trade sanctions and denied parties.

Your profile
  • Several years of business experience, including three to five years of legal, regulatory compliance or related work
  • Minimum qualification: bachelor‘s degree in customs and foreign trade, law or compliance; postgraduate qualification in law or compliance an advantage
  • Knowledge of export control regulations including denied party details, embargo and sanction rules, and goods-related controls
  • Understanding of denied party screening solutions, IT set-up and implementation of verification and escalation processes
  • Knowledge of due diligence for embargoed or sanctioned countries, and of contractual terms and conditions relating to export controls
  • Well-spoken and persuasive; fluency in written and spoken English 
  • Confidence in working with senior government or investigating officials and authorities
  • Ability to manage change, processes and improvements across multiple functions in a global organization; excellent program management skills
