WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

An Assistant Technical Agronomist role includes experience in all aspects of field trials work over the course of an agricultural year. Reporting to the R&D Operations Manager and working alongside a team of agronomists within the BASF Agricultural Solutions Division, you will assist with the planning and execution of a range of field trials in support of current and future new compounds in our development pipeline. This will entail reporting on progress and results for individual projects.

This is a highly varied role where you will be responsible for a wide range of different tasks. These include assisting and applying product, preparation of seed, product preparation and many other tasks vital to the smooth day to day running of the wider R&D Operations. The placement will provide a basic introduction to agronomy, allowing the successful applicants to learn about UK agriculture and the importance of agricultural solutions to global food security. The successful candidate will gain valuable experience of working inside one of the worlds leading chemical companies, as well as the opportunity to build upon their agronomic knowledge to further their knowledge in this sector. PA1 and PA6 are also included within the placement.

Alongside their day to day responsibilities, there will be the opportunity for assistants to run their own project. This may be based around a variety of agricultural solutions topics depending on the individuals interests. Whilst the role is based around a typical working day, due to the nature of the work we do ask that candidates will need to be flexible to work outside of these times at peak periods in the year.
