Objectives of the Position

 

  • Understand business needs and provide best suited solutions on Compensation and benefits for specific assigned Country in the APAC region.
  • Support respective countries assigned in the region in engaging with the stakeholders, from HRBPs to local HR C&B in Compensation matters including policies, proposals, providing guidance and consultation and operational C&B support
  • Support in identifying process improvements and best practice in the C&B space and work with other team members within the People Cluster to ensure smooth implementation and engagement of best practice for respective countries

 

 

Main Tasks

 

Operational Excellence

  • Drive, support and implement the full cycle of salary review management i.e. performance management, compensation survey, salary benchmarking, salary budget allocation, annual salary review cycle exercise and application of annual salary review budgets.
  • Driving the annual process as well as other deliverables such as supporting the review and implementation of countries’ C&B policies when required.
  • Support the communication of policies and programs with respective country HR stakeholders.
  • Provide consultation and advisory services to Country HR with the aim of supporting the design of competitive compensation and benefits frameworks and programs as when needed, through analysis, market benchmarking and research.
  • Develop and propose a market competitive salary structure for APAC countries and ensure policies are in place to support annual review cycle.
  • Handling of vendors relating to management of Compensation & Benefits, which includes supporting the responsibilities of insurance renewals and any other vendor engagement required for respective countries.
  • Oversee the daily/weekly/monthly/routine C&B operational activities such as benefit enrolment, payment for C&B.
  • Vendors and benefit briefing by coordinating with the Specialists and Analysts
  • Ensure that inquiry management processes meet established Service Level Agreements (SLAs) while effectively resolving escalations to maintain high levels of employee satisfaction.

 

Service Engagement

  • Play the advisory role to stakeholders on topics related to C&B including support Country HR to review/design compensation and benefits practices and guidelines ensure comply to BASF Corporate Rule Base, labor laws etc.
  • Providing support by working closely with M&A projects on merger, acquisitions, divestitures, and labor management partnerships e.g. due diligence analysis, business requirement gatherings, compensation workings etc.
  • Monitor and track external developments and changes in market practices and legislation which affect the HR climate and support business to manage changes proactively.
  • Provide guidance to the Specialists and Analyst in the People Cluster team should there be an escalation of C&B matters that require clarification and further in- depth engagement.

  • Works autonomously within established procedures and practices; seek guidance in the more complex aspects of the process.
  • Contribute positively to a knowledge sharing environment through generously providing guidance and sharing knowledge with others. Guides and trains junior team members.

 

 

Requirements

 

Education

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications: Degree with HR focus as a bonus.

 

Working Experience

  • With 8 - 10 years of related HR working experiences in strategic Compensation & Benefits and experience in operational C&B area as well.
  • Experience in relevant country statutory preferred
  • Working knowledge around Rewards programs and system.

 

Technical & Professional Knowledge

  • Demonstrates a high level of proficiency in language and culture of the supported country/location.
  • Have an acceptable understanding of HR principals and/or Employee Laws of the supported country/location.
  • Strong processing skills and analytical abilities
  • Service mindset with strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Functional knowledge and skills in using Microsoft application i.e. Words, Excel, Power Point.
