As an essential business in BASF’s overall Verbund (interconnected value chain) system, Team Monomers is committed to help our customers reach their sustainability targets by expanding our portfolio of lower CO2 footprint products and circular solutions. As a Control Systems Engineer II, you will provide support for the Foxboro I/A DCS and Triconex SIS at our Geismar, LA facility. Your main responsibility will be to deliver and maintain Control Systems that meet production requirements, perform as necessary to achieve functionality and safety obligations, and maximize system capability. Your role is key to the safe, efficient, reliable, innovative, and high-quality production of Isocyanates at our Geismar site and our success as a business

As a Control Systems Engineer II, you create chemistry by...

 

  • Making recommendations to improve maintenance and production operations.
  • Developing, implementing, documenting, and maintaining manuals for every system in the production areas, being responsible for the standardization and quality of all configurations.
  • Programming HMI, DCS, SIS and PLC’s using Function Block Diagrams, ladder logic and Sequential Function Logic.
  • Configuration, preventative maintenance, hardware/software support and administration for Site DCS and SIS.
  • Developing and maintaining long-term control system migration plans for the plant with Engineers, Technicians, and Operations personnel and assist with the MOC process.
  • Tracking Total Cost of Ownership for control systems, including monitoring failures, assisting in initial hardware installations, maintenance contract tracking and communication, optimizing software version upgrades and addressing vendor liaison issues.
  • Performing advanced control and graphic configuration supporting Capital projects in areas requiring interface to control systems

If you...

 

  • Hold a bachelor's or higher degree in Engineering.
  • Have 3+ years of experience as a control systems engineer in a chemical or refinery manufacturing environment.
  • Possess experience with DCS and SIS design and engineering, programming, configuration changes and troubleshooting (Foxboro I/A DCS and Triconex SIS preferred).
  • Have strong technical knowledge in process controls, networking, automation security, field instrumentation, and control systems
  • Show strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, and keen attention to detail.
