About The Role
The Global Marketing Manager will play a pivotal role in fostering profitable growth for sulfuric acid and styrene monomer catalysts through comprehensive strategic, operational, and commercial marketing. This role requires a visionary leader who can develop and implement effective market strategies while ensuring alignment with BASF’s overarching goals.
How You Will Do It
Strategic Marketing:
- Develop and implement a global market strategy as well as regional specific strategies for sulfuric acid and styrene monomer catalysts, utilizing clearly defined KPIs to measure success.
- Continuously map the competitive landscape, providing timely market intelligence to define BASF’s positioning in the market.
- Identify potential partnerships and growth opportunities to enhance market presence and profitability.
- Optimize the global manufacturing network to meet the strategy, collaborating with various stakeholders to drive implementation.
- Support the evaluation of strategic investments, acquisitions, and/or divestitures.
Operational Marketing:
- Achieve global financial profitability targets for the segment.
- Develop and maintain a pricing strategy using regional competitor benchmarking, optimizing utilization of global assets.
- Identify and implement cost optimization measures related to product costs, including raw materials and fixed expenses.
- Collaborate with the supply chain team to define an effective stock strategy for finished products, aiming to optimize healthy inventory levels and minimize average cost of inventory value.
- Drive innovation by identifying business cases for new product development and leading R&D projects, including the formulation of intellectual property strategies.
- Optimize the product portfolio and actively manage the product life cycle, planning and executing successful new product launches with support from Sales, Supply Chain, and Operations.
Commercial Marketing:
- Define consistent product positioning and selling narratives in collaboration with Technology Managers, creating comprehensive sales packages for the sales teams.
- Plan and execute targeted marketing communication activities, ensuring consistent messaging across various channels such as social media, press releases, conferences, advertisements, and other marketing publications.
- Develop and nurture relationships with key customers and partners to enhance customer loyalty and drive sales growth.
- Ensure globally aligned product knowledge and standards for technical and warranty proposals through close collaboration with Technology Managers.
- Provide detailed product datasheets and specifications, facilitating product transfers and associated processes.
What We Look For
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in economics or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial marketing, sales, and product management within the chemical industry, with at least 5 years of experience specifically in chemical catalysts, preferably sulfuric acid and styrene catalyst segments.
- Previous experience collaborating with Production and Technology teams in the field of chemical catalysts.
- Capable of establishing pricing strategies that directly influence profitability.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results by collaborating with global partners.
- Highly entrepreneurial mindset with strong conceptual and analytical skills, capable of navigating complex business challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage across regions and functions effectively.
- Strong project management skills, demonstrating the ability to lead cross-functional teams towards achieving results.
- Willingness to travel globally to achieve market targets. (25% travel)
- Proficient in the use of Power BI, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
