About The Role

  • Strategize, consolidate and execute procurement of the company’s regional liner shipping transportation requirements in Asia Pacific, ensuring adherence to harmonized procurement processes, systems and compliant standards.
  • Ensure reliable supply of Liner Shipping transportation services at competitive terms and required level of quality based on sound procurement strategies for all relevant hubs and sites in Asia Pacific
  • Align closely with internal Business Partners across the region in accordance with internal and external regulations including corresponding service provider management, performance- and allocation monitoring performance and support to RBU’s and Group Companies in managing their regional transportation & distribution network. 
  • Represent Asia Pacific hubs on Liner Shipping procurement, working closely with Global Category Buyer Team, regional network of procurement specialist in each country towards Regional Procurement, internal Business Partners and management.
  • Spot procurement of Liner Shipping transportation requirements across the Asia Pacific region.

 

How You Will Do It

Category Management

Ensure procurement and supply strategies are in place for all Liner Shipping Transportation services, professional approach to tenders and negotiations to achieve optimal terms and meet the needs of internal Business Partners in Asia Pacific.

  • Develop thorough understanding of the business objectives, needs of the internal Business Partners in Asia Pacific and procurement conditions for Liner Shipping Transportation services
  • Support and implement Global Liner Shipping Transportation procurement strategy, ensuring consideration of specific needs of the internal Business Partners in the region as well as mitigation of relevant risks
  • Support Supply Chain Management in developing logistics concepts
  • Prepare, execute major regional/global tenders and negotiations for Liner Shipping Transportation services ensuring alignment with internal Business Partners and relevant departments

 

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Actively monitor Liner Shipping Transportation supplier landscape in Asia Pacific and build up new suppliers to enable them to meet company’s standards and requirements ensuring reliable supply at competitive prices to manage supplier and price risks
  • Ensure suppliers meet the general and country-specific requirements by aligning with internal Business Partners, EHS, TDS, SCM and other stakeholders
  • Address sustainability topics and reduce business risks from non-compliance with environmental, social or governance (ESG) standards
  • Regularly evaluate supplier performance based on suitable KPIs for commercial terms, delivery, quality and compliance to internal and external regulations, sufficiently documented and that appropriate countermeasures are implemented.
  • Manage process to delist suppliers if the performance is unsatisfactory and an improvement is unlikely after alignment with the GCB (Global Category Buyer) and other stakeholders

 

Internal Business Partner Relationship Management

Establish close relationship with internal Business Partners in Asia Pacific with regards to procurement of Liner Shipping Transportation services, to ensure smooth communication and identify issues at an early stage. 

  • Establish regular communication and discuss Liner Shipping Transportation procurement activities, current requirements, volume forecast vs. actuals, future plans and services to identify opportunities, address issues, market trends to create competitive advantage.
  • Align annual target agreements between Logistics Procurement and internal Business Partners, with reference to Liner Shipping Transportation procurement services.
  • Actively seek for feedback on perceived performance of procurement activities, address issues with relevant parties and escalate to the Global/Regional management if necessary to achieve procurement effectiveness and internal customer satisfaction.

 

Regional Representation

  • Serve as main contact to Regional Logistics Procurement on all reporting activities and projects in Asia Pacific related to procurement of Liner Shipping Transportation services. Facilitate exchange of best practices on Liner Shipping Transportation Procurement from other regions, and within the region, and initiate related projects.

 

Compliance and Processes

Ensure all Liner Shipping Transportation procurement activities compliant to relevant policies, procedures and documented properly to achieve excellent and consistent quality of work results, avoid compliance issues and allow for traceability of actions.

 

  • Exert functional leadership and governance for all activities related to Liner Shipping Transportation services in the sites and hubs including Delegated Procurement.
  • Actively seek opportunities for continuous improvement to increase operational excellence and improve documentation of processes.

 

What We Look For

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in business management, Shipping Management Economics, Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial/operational experience in Liner Shipping transportation, preferably with exposure to packaged chemicals transportation in Box Containers.
  • Strong market knowledge of Liner Shipping transportation, freight rates and developments in Asia Pacific especially related to the packaged transportation of chemicals in Box Containers.
  • Strong shipping market knowledge and ability to negotiate contracts effectively.
  • Knowledge of logistics, supply chain and marine transportation
  • Knowledge with shipping contracts and legal implications.
  • Knowledge of box container transportation operations and safety is necessary.
  • Ability to apply International Maritime Conventions in contract negotiation.
  • Understanding of environment, health & safety aspects (EHS), transportation & distribution safety (TDS) and global trade control.
