Scientist Medicinal Chemistry (m/f/d)

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be a member of project teams and contribute to projects to help identify pre-clinical and clinical development candidates to address unmet medical needs and create positive economic impact for the company as well as society
- Be part of design teams and collaboratively identify biologically active compounds for target validation and disease to target link clarification (support chemical biology)
- Contribute to the lead identification process based on hit-structures out of our >4.5 million compound library in collaboration with experienced colleagues
- Collaborate with computational chemists and contribute to structure-based drug discovery approaches in projects
- Realize novel design ideas by hands-on synthetic chemistry in close collaboration with other project chemists, the automated medicinal chemistry group or contract-research-organizations to reach project goals and milestones
- Provide state-of-the-art documentation of all experiments, including in depth analytical data analysis (LC-MS, MS, NMR….) and physicochemical characterization as well as ideas for chemical scale-up of important intermediates and final compounds
- Be familiar with modern analytical methodologies and separation technologies
- Help securing IP in collaboration with patent lawyers and experienced medicinal chemistry project leads by contributing experimental parts of future patent applications
- Help ensure high safety standards and compliance in your work environment
WHO YOU ARE
- PhD in synthetic organic chemistry or a related field
- Knowledge of classical and modern synthetic methods as well as modern tools in chemical research
- Experience in medicinal chemistry is a plus
- Motivated self-starter, passionate about pharmaceutical research and medicinal chemistry, willing to collaborate to bring new drugs to the patients by constantly challenging the status quo of drug discovery and medicinal chemistry
- Affinity to digital tools and their application in Drug Discovery and Medicinal Chemistry
- Research experience in organic chemistry or related disciplines, demonstrated by scientific publications and/or patent applications
- Strong communication and presentation skills, as well as intercultural skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Readiness to help implementing AI/ML in the daily drug discovery tasks
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken, willingness to learn German
