The Opportunity

Enterprise software is undergoing the most significant transformation in its history. The shift from transactional systems to autonomous, AI-driven business platforms is fundamentally redefining how organizations operate, make decisions, and create value. Finance sits at the center of this transformation.

We are seeking an exceptional executive to lead the next generation of SAP S/4HANA Finance by bringing together Product Management, User Experience, and Engineering into a single AI-first organization. This leader will not simply manage an existing portfolio — they will redefine how enterprise financial software is conceived, built, delivered, and continuously improved through artificial intelligence.

This executive will be responsible for one of SAP's largest cloud businesses, serving thousands of customers globally and enabling the financial operations of many of the world's leading enterprises. The mandate is to transform traditional ERP into an intelligent, autonomous finance platform where AI agents collaborate with finance professionals to accelerate decisions, automate work, increase compliance, and unlock entirely new business capabilities.

Reporting directly to the Global General Manager and Chief Product Officer, this leader will shape product strategy, engineering execution, customer innovation, and organizational transformation while building a culture where AI is embedded in every aspect of product development and customer value creation.

The Role

This position carries end-to-end accountability for strategy, execution, innovation, customer success, and organizational leadership across the SAP S/4HANA Finance portfolio.

The successful executive will establish a long-term vision that extends well beyond feature delivery. They will define how finance evolves from a system of record into a system of intelligence—one that continuously learns, reasons, predicts, and acts on behalf of finance organizations.

Success will require balancing customer commitments with long-term platform investments while accelerating innovation across Core Finance, Financial Close, Treasury, Revenue Accounting, Tax, Compliance, Financial Planning integrations, and emerging AI-driven capabilities. Every investment should reinforce a unified architecture and a simplified customer experience rather than adding incremental complexity.

This leader will be expected to build an organization that thinks differently about software. Rather than measuring success by features delivered, the organization will focus on business outcomes, customer adoption, autonomous workflows, and measurable productivity gains enabled through AI.

Leading the AI Transformation

• The defining responsibility of this role is leading the transformation of both the product portfolio and the organization into an AI-first operating model.
• This executive will establish AI not as an isolated capability but as the foundation of how products are envisioned, engineered, operated, and experienced. They will champion the evolution from traditional transactional applications toward intelligent systems capable of reasoning, planning, and executing increasingly complex financial processes with appropriate human oversight.
• The vision extends beyond embedding generative AI into user interfaces. It includes creating an ecosystem of specialized AI agents that collaborate across finance processes, learn continuously from enterprise data, and orchestrate work across SAP's broader business suite. Financial close, treasury optimization, journal processing, compliance monitoring, revenue recognition, forecasting, and financial analysis should increasingly shift from manual activities to intelligent, autonomous workflows.
• Internally, the same transformation applies to product development. AI should become integral to product discovery, customer research, engineering, testing, quality assurance, documentation, release management, and operational support. The organization will embrace AI-assisted software engineering, intelligent backlog prioritization, predictive quality management, and autonomous development pipelines that dramatically increase engineering velocity while improving quality.
• This executive must inspire the organization to rethink every aspect of software creation through the lens of artificial intelligence, establishing SAP Finance as the benchmark for AI-native enterprise applications.

Product, Design and Engineering Leadership

• The organization combines Product Management, User Experience, and Engineering into a single leadership model focused on delivering exceptional customer outcomes.
• Rather than operating as independent functions, these disciplines will work together throughout the product lifecycle—from customer discovery and strategic planning through engineering execution, adoption, and continuous innovation.
• The executive will cultivate a culture where customer insight drives every investment decision, engineering excellence enables rapid innovation, and design simplifies the complexity of enterprise finance. Decisions should be informed by customer telemetry, product analytics, AI-generated insights, and direct engagement with finance executives around the world.
• The engineering organization will continue evolving toward modern cloud-native architectures built on automation, resilience, security, scalability, and continuous delivery. Engineering excellence will be measured not only by technical quality but by the speed with which ideas become customer value.

Customer and Market Leadership

• This executive will serve as one of SAP's foremost thought leaders for enterprise finance.
• They will regularly engage with Chief Financial Officers, Chief Accounting Officers, CIOs, and executive leadership teams to understand emerging business challenges while helping shape the future direction of enterprise financial management.
• Strong relationships with strategic customers, global system integrators, technology partners, analysts, and industry communities will be essential. The successful candidate will represent SAP at executive forums, customer advisory boards, analyst briefings, and global industry events, translating market insight into differentiated product strategy.

Organizational Leadership

• Building the future requires building the right organization.
• This leader will develop a high-performing global team united by a culture of innovation, accountability, inclusion, and continuous learning. They will champion an operating model that empowers leaders, accelerates decision-making, and encourages experimentation while maintaining the discipline required to deliver mission-critical enterprise software.
• A significant aspect of the role will be guiding experienced product managers and engineers through the transition to AI-native ways of working. Success will depend on creating an environment where human expertise is amplified — not replaced — by artificial intelligence.
• The executive will be expected to attract exceptional talent, develop future leaders, and foster an organization recognized across the industry for technical excellence, customer obsession, and innovation.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished enterprise software executive with deep expertise in finance applications, cloud technologies, and large-scale product organizations. They have successfully led global teams through periods of significant technological change and understand how to balance long-term strategic investments with disciplined operational execution.

They possess credibility with customers, engineers, product leaders, and executive stakeholders alike. They are equally comfortable discussing accounting processes with a CFO, software architecture with distinguished engineers, and long-term market strategy with boards and investors.

Most importantly, they recognize that artificial intelligence represents a fundamental shift in enterprise computing — not simply another technology wave. They have demonstrated the ability to lead organizations through disruptive transformation, challenge conventional thinking, and build cultures where innovation and execution reinforce one another.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first eighteen months, this executive will have established a clear AI-first strategy for SAP S/4HANA Finance, accelerated engineering productivity through AI-enabled development practices, simplified the product portfolio, strengthened customer adoption, and delivered meaningful autonomous finance capabilities that redefine how enterprise financial work is performed.

Equally important, they will have built an organization that has embraced a new operating model—one where Product Management, Design, and Engineering operate as a unified team, AI is woven into every stage of the product lifecycle, and innovation is measured not by the number of features delivered but by the business outcomes achieved for customers.

By doing so, this leader will position SAP S/4HANA Finance as the global benchmark for intelligent, autonomous enterprise finance software and help define the future of enterprise applications in the age of AI.
