WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

In our Fungicide Chemistry team you work on inventing innovative and sustainable crop protection active ingredients and solutions designed to meet farmers’ needs. From day one, you join a diverse, international and multi-disciplinary team, composed of experts and young talents, all engaged in addressing challenging and exciting scientific targets.

• In your new role, your responsibilities include the identification and design of biologically active ingredients, their synthesis, the analysis and interpretation of their performance, intrinsic properties and safety profile.
• Using structure-activity relationships and rational design, you drive multiparameter optimizations, applying medicinal chemistry concepts at the interface of fungi and plants.
• With your work you navigate at the frontiers of chemistry, modeling, biology, agronomy, product safety and intellectual property.
• You have leadership and EHS responsibilities for your lab team, bring your expertise in scientific projects, and mentor colleagues.
• You work in a multidisciplinary environment, collaborate with a broad range of experts at BASF and expand your knowhow. Likewise, you network with academia, scientific partners and technology providers.

WHAT YOU OFFER

• PhD in chemistry, medicinal chemistry or a related field, along with profound knowledge in organic chemical synthesis
• experience and a track record in crop protection or pharmaceutical active ingredient discovery
• creative and curious scientist, passionate about delivering first-in-class solutions to contribute in addressing farmers’ needs of tomorrow
• enjoy working with modern technologies, exploit digital opportunities and stay abreast of new developments 
• appreciation of other perspectives, communication skills that allow you to collaborate effectively in diverse and international cross-functional teams, German language skills or willingness to learn
